Math?

Today I realized I might have been more useful if I was a science or math major. Maybe I wouldn't have stray off my path as easily. Maybe I could have helped other people. :( I don't know. I do know that I miss math. I'm such a geek. :P

Eating

I often wonder if I have a disorder because I like to eat way too much. :/

Writing Systems

Writing styles taught in our education system (USA) is funny. After much thinking on the bus while wondering what to write for my essay, I think I've come to a realization. K-12 education give students essays w/ question and evidence. Undergraduate drops the question and only gives the topic and evidence to argue for. Graduate education seems to be arguing against the given evidence. Is this true?

I don't know.

Snowmaggeddon

That's the name of the week-long storm that devastated the US east coast Metropolitan area. First it was 30 inches of basic snow. Then it was another 10 inches with Category 2 Hurricane wind speeds. It was basically a blizzard. Everyone was forced to experience the Ice Age, if only for a short period of time. It was scary because being trapped inside for nearly over a week feels like an endless deep dark abyss.

It was also boring. I didn't get to go to work or lectures about my favorite topics. I was trapped home reading, watching tv, playing games, or shoveling ice and snow. It's really hard to shovel with a straight back. So it's really tiring to shovel. Hmm, this is a good time to research for a better way to shovel snow. It's basically lift with your legs and not your back. Keep your back straight. Take breaks. Dress in layers.

I finally decided to get myself enrolled in a creative writing class. Perhaps I'll actually write something interesting?

I'm currently reading the Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo. I've heard that it is a good read.

I'm thinking about changing my room. I don't like the way it's positioned. Perhaps it's because of the clutter that I kept too of much?

It's almost Chinese New Years. Coincidentally, it's also Valentine's Day. I'm happy for Chinese New Year, but I am ambivalent towards Valentine's day.

I'm taking 6 classes this semester. They are Contemporary City, Economic Geography, Latin America Migration, Modern History of Korea, East Asian History II, and Creative Writing. Yes, I know; that's stupidly a lot. Contemporary City is a course that discussions present day city situations and problems. Economic Geography provides an introduction into that subject. Latin America Migration is a special rare course about Latino/Hispanic migration into the US. Apparently migration is a two way progess. Sort of like Newton's law: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Possibly a lot more than last semester when I was taking 212 C++. I'm still frustrated over that. But I can't retake it. It's the 3rd time. My gpa is too low already. I was crazy for messing it up 3 times in a row. I'm not sure anymore about how did I mess up. I think it was a combination of factors and stress. I'm gonna miss those classes. Now instead of creative theoretical thinking, I have lots of reading.

My goals for this semester is to read more. Period. Well, to read and write more. Period.

You could even say that that is my new year's resolution in a way.

Aw the driveway wasn't shoveled properly. I'm gonna have to fix that tomorrow morning.

Netgear

It's great when a product actually works and is worth the price. However, when the companion software that comes with the product doesn't work, all the frustrations in the world cannot explain this until one has experimented with it.

I recently got a netgear wnda3100 usb for my desktop because my computer was too far away from the modem. I was recommended to plug and play by my friend, but I didn't have access to the internet, so I didn't get any drivers that way. So I decided to go ahead and install the software that came with it in the box. The software had an update, so I got a super long ethernet cable to plug into the network jack to get an update on this software. As I was using the software, it would only give me "Limited connection". I didn't understand why it wouldn't connect me to the internet. I must be doing something wrong. So finally I experimented on my laptop with any software and used the existing internet connection on the laptop to get the drivers.

And windows vista actually got this to work. Wow. It was a lot simplier than installing some darn vendor's software. So I remove the software from the desktop, hook up the desktop by ethernet, and got the drivers. Now it's working great without the software.

In hindsight, why didn't I just hook up it first to get the drivers? Because it was a hazard. I didn't think I needed to drag out the hundred foot long cable. Although if I had done that in the first place, I would have been a lot happier and a lot less frustrated. But now I know vendor's software fails.

It was probably incompatibility between vista and the software, but I see it as the vendor's fault as they should have had an update for that. Failed.

Halloween

I must have been the only one bored that night. I had guests over whose son was trick-or-treating with my brothers. I was on sentry duty for our house.

On reflection, I should have been finishing my homework. How did that happened? How did my homework ended up not being finished? I feel very confused. I will end this and try to finish what I can. I feel so pathetic. ;(

scary~

I was at the library when some random guy comes up to me as I was walking down the stairs. As another person walks down the stairs, the random guy asks what time does the library closes. So I tell him and move to another floor to look for books for research. The random guy finds me again and explains to me that he was embarrassed by the other person coming down the stairs. That he actually wanted to ask me for money. He tells me his life story about how he only get $75 per month from his parents. He has his cellphone out and mumbles something about getting my number to pay me back later. I replied to him after all this that I'm not carrying cash. Then he asked if I could go with him to pay for some food and I replied that I have to finish my research tonight. I thought that was the end of that, but then he saw my laptop on the nearby shelves and asked about whether it was a Compaq. It was an HP which is the same company. Then he proceeds to tell me about his old laptop and asked if I wanted it. I replied that I did not. I apologize and he seems to have left. I stayed there for another hour and a half before gathering what I found and leaving.

It was scary....
